NCATS seeks applications from exceptional informatics scientists to serve as the informatics program lead in the Division of Pre-Clinical Innovation (DPI). DPI studies translation of basic discoveries into tangible improvements to human health at a systems level as a scientific and operational problem. The scientists within DPI come from a broad range of scientific disciplines – including, among others, therapeutic discovery, preclinical development, toxicology, biomarkers and clinical application – to reduce, remove or bypass significant bottlenecks across the entire continuum of translation and to train the future translational science workforce.
The incumbent will serve as the informatics program lead for NCATS intramural research. The leader sets the informatics research agenda, leading a diverse team of data science, bioinformatics, cheminformatics and software development professionals with discovery, preclinical development and clinical repurposing expertise to advance NCATS translational science initiatives. The position requires a strong interdisciplinary foundation in therapeutic development, genomics, mathematics, and algorithm and informatics platform development. The leader should have a strong record of high-impact publications and experience providing tools and resources to the broader research community. The informatics program lead will be accountable for project planning, execution, and project completion, serving as a point person responsible for advancing collaborative projects through milestone-driven project areas.
